Some of Rocky Mount’s heartier nature lovers met in Battle Park this morning to make Wisteria Baskets. We listened to Christmas music, drank hot chocolate, and worked together to create beautiful baskets from natural material. Fun was had by all.

In addition to create a great keepsake decoration that is also great for gathering wild foods, this project helps to manage an invasive plant species.  Wisteria has many practical uses, such as it’s beautiful edible flowers in the early Spring. However, if not properly managed, the long shoots of this vining plant can take over the forest.
